Ah recovery run, how I love thee. Hello dear reader, I thought I would start
this week’s training blog positively. As
you may be able to deduce, I have just come back from my recovery run and it
was really pleasant. It’s been a warm
day and the evening doesn’t seem to want to cool down much but the run was only
4 and bit k and it was really nice. I
fear tomorrow’s interval training may be a tad different but for now I shall
bask in the comforting embrace of the recovery run, ah.....
Dearest Blog reader, I failed a bit tonight. Tonight is interval night (Urgh) and I only managed
the big hill 4 times. I just didn’t have
the energy to go for a 5th.
Sorry. However today has been the
hottest day of the year so far but also the toffee custard doughnut at lunch
may have been a contributing factor too.
On the plus side on my third charge up the hill a teenager
did give me a funny look then asked me “Why are you doing that”. It made me laugh because at that moment I
couldn’t really think of a reason.
This week’s long run was about 15.3k and it took me about 1
hour 14 minutes. Sorry for being tad
vague I can’t download my run my watch as my Broadband is down. It seems infinity isn’t as infinite as it
sounds...
Anyhow, the run went pretty well and the best thing about it
was that I was able to really push it at the end. I was knackered by the end but out of 15 on 2
of the kilometres were run slower than 5 minute kilometre pace.
I am thinking about not doing the interval training this
week and going for a swim instead. There
are 2 reasons for this:
1 – I have a pretty big blister on my left foot and I could
do with letting it heal.
2 – I feel real fatigued at the moment, not sure if it’s the
hot weather or how much I’ve been running but I’m pretty tired all the time at
the moment.
I will of course keep you informed of my decision.
Time for a slice of lemon tart now, toodle pip!
Hi, this made me lol. I love the image of the teenager looking befuzzled as to why anyone would volunteer to run up a hill so many times. Perhaps revisiting your end goals will make the fatigue more bearable. The heat is definitely a factor. It makes us all tired but coupled with pushing your body so much it must be exhausting. As Dory would say "just keep swimming"...well done and keep at it :-)
